Brainded of cute
Oct. 29th, 2010 12:41 pmOh dear fiends, please forbear. At some point in the future, I will remember how to talk like a grown up, about something other than kittens, but for now...
sara_lou and Phil came to visit the girls last night. When Sara saw Harriet for the frst time, she gasped at how small she is, which really doesn't come across in the photos I've posted.
So it may help to point out that Harriet's little head is about the size of a small tangerine, and her entire body is about the size of one of my shoes (ladies size 3, which my sister refers to as "dolls' shoes"). Truffle is longer and taller - probably more like a ladies' size 5 ankle boot, but her head is as tiny as Harriet's and she has even daintier paws. Overall she has a more graceful, willowy shape.
Most people fall instantly in love with Harriet because she is off-the-scale cute, with that extreme kitteny shape, inquisitive head tilted on one side and paws that look too big for her body. It's impossible not to scoop her up every time she comes near. Poor little Truffle-bear is easier to overlook, being the quiet, understated one with a sad face, slinky posture and brown bear-eyes. But I love her gentle nature and silky soft fur, and the way she purrs as a knee-jerk reaction to being stroked or picked up, before she works out that you tricked her into it and puts on a look of disgruntlement. (Natalie and Phil have also both declared soft spots for her.)
This morning both kittens made the mistake of being so cute in my vicinity that they had to suffer prolonged head-kisses before I could leave the house. It's only fair, and I am suffering daily angst/jealousy at having to go to work and leave them with G all day...
Oh, roll on Saturday morning!

old blind catLex. Really. Nothing to do with getting to spend all day playing with kittens... :)no subject
