This is just a quickie memoir of my weekend spent in a Posy Simmonds novel at the bijou, Country-Living residence of  [livejournal.com profile] sara_lou .

I'm a lil bit tired so I won't say much, other than it was lovely!   And such a delight to spend some quiet girly time with Sara and [livejournal.com profile] rosamicula , who is looking extra-gorgeous and nut-brown and is at risk of corrupting the village over the next few weeks.  She also makes exceedingly good cakes.

Anyway here are a few pics of Saraland, which is all horribly aspirational and makes me want to pack up and move to the country!

An hour amid the morning dew and webs in Sara's garden helped to cure my hangover...

LIttle corners of Sara's cottage...

Bountiful things in the biggest farm shop I've ever seen...

Green fields and general loveliness

A road in Frome where every single shop sells amazing vintage tat, furniture, fabrics, yarn and sewing bits...   Sue heaven!

I have accidentally sent for details of a house in that village. Oops.

Frome or Beckington?
Either way... very nice :-)

Argh! I just saw your post! It's shameless house porn! (I don't have access to your DW, so I will say it here... I too am totally in love with that house!)

I want it so badly. It's sort of affordable, too.

Which house? Where? I am merely a humble tenant... :-(

Oh *love*.

But I love my little hovel too, with all my heart! Went out this morning in the lovely misty sunny frostiness for a long walk round the fields; your camera would have been in heaven.

Oo! Oo! Look, this one!

Is it rubbish in real life? I sort of vaguely hope it is.

That street has a really nice cafe at the top if I remember.

Great pics! The country living aspirations seem to have worked! You can barely see the spiders, dust and damp!

OK, I missed that bit of Frome in my Somerset travels. I can now see why you like it so much.

I reckon I could give two people a tour of Twickenham, taking one of them around the gorgeous, picturesque parts with the river and greenery and another around the grim, dodgy bits and drab high-street.... and they'd never believe they'd been to the same place. (I suspect Frome is no different!)

Fractal Romanesco broccoli, the most mathematical vegetable of all. Yay!

It was the most magnificent vegetable I'd ever seen

How can a place that picturesque even exist?

Living in the London burbs, it's easy to forget how much prettier rural England can be.
(Mind you, it looks pretty gorgeous where you live, too)
