General nonsense
Jul. 20th, 2010 07:34 pmDear Jon Stewart, you know how you like to be down-with-the-Brits and all that? Well here's a lil tip. Barrack Obama is best described as the President of the USA... not "the leader of the free world". Just sayin'...
Me
Anyway never mind him, dear fiends, how is life treating you?
I am currently in recovery mode after The Black Tube of Calcutta. Seriously, I could have expired from disgust. Thick air... Sweat... dripping... and no room ro move. Ugh.
Tomorrow I have an exam at work. If I pass, I will become officially certified in IT Wank-word Bingo and you can all disown me. In fact, you may want to disown me anyway because I am clearly further along the path to wankerhood than I realised. On Sunday night I almost tyoed a moan on FB about how exhausted I felt from spending all day researching and booking my holiday. Dear god, what have I become? (G has started singing "middle class nightmares" at me to the tune of Master and Servant by Depeche Mode - the shame!) I hope the voice of sanity has not packed up and left for good.
On an unrelated topic, do any of you listen to amateur podcasts? I don't mean all of the Radio4 ones and so on... I mean the ones that are like special-interest blogs, delivered by the medium of voice. I've tried quite a few out recently and must say that it's hard to find any real gold, though I do really love the idea of self-publishing like this. So I'm pretty much subscribing and de-subscribing at will in a bid to find something really good.
Right now I have a mish-mash of people wittering about gaming, food, lifestyle and various crafty things - it's very soothing on my commute to listen to people witter about lifestyles that are very different to mine. But, to be honest, a lot of them just serve to make me aware of how skilled a job podcasting is. They're subject to all of the same content foibles as blogging - except with the added complication of bad acoustics, awful speaking voices, failure to edit out coughs and the rest. Any recommendations for good ones would be v. welcome though.
On another unrelated topic, I am so addicted to Hitchcock films at the moment. I watched Rope last night and loved it! (Who else will I like, if I like Hitchcock?)
Well I suppose that's enough from me. Have a fab evening all.

Date: 2010-07-20 07:10 pm (UTC)I wonder if it is just as much a case of "middle aged nightmares" as "middle class nightmares"

Date: 2010-07-20 08:07 pm (UTC)I watched M last week and if you haven't seen it, you must as it is so beautifully shot, Peter Lorre plays a child murderer in it and abhorrent though he is I still felt sad for him. This is probably because I love Mr Lorre an awful lot - I get a lump in my throat every time I watch Casblanca when he gets arrested - even though I know as my Grandad would say 'it's only a let-on'.
