Contraceptives and washing machines
Jul. 14th, 2010 10:01 amI just listened to an interview with a woman who participated in the Victorian Farm programme for the BBC. She's also a bit of an expert on women's domestic history and made the comment that, in her opinion, the two inventions that have liberated women more than any other are contraceptives and the washing machine... I am inclined to agree.
(...and once I've finished thanking the above inventors, I'd also like to give a nod to those involved in the development of paracetamol. Little, life-changing pills. I especially could not have lived without them in my teens.)
