Um, what shall I do now?
Apr. 29th, 2010 08:40 pmHmmm... it's 8pm and I am home alone in my PJs with a glass of splish. Rock 'n' Rolll!
I would watch telly but there's nothing I fancy. I suppose I should watch the debate... or maybe I should watch "Autistic Driving School" instead. (Yes, Logie Baird, you did that!)
G and I are going to a wedding in Richmond tomorrow. It's so delightfuly local that there are no logistics other than turning up at the required time. (G is the best man and is out right now with the groom).
I rummaged in the loft his evening and found a black hat from ten years ago that I think I will wear. It's a bit funereal for a wedding... bucket-shaped with a bow at the back and slightly vampish black lace at eye-level. But what the hell. Somehow it has come out of the hat box looking dusty... tsk.
Not sure what else I will wear... there is a red shift dress that I might try on (but given the amount of buttery mash I stuffed away this evening it may be a bit unforgiving). Hmmm.
Well this is all very fascinating for you, I'm sure...
The other day I was wandering down the road behind another woman who was smoking a cigarette. At one point we were passed by a pram-pushing yummy mummy who cast a look of such extreme, open-mouthed outrage that someone had dared to smoke near her baby that it made me want to light up 3 cigars and a pipe and follow her all the way home. (I think I might be quite evil really... )
Well. I clearly have nothing of value to say. Oh, but hoorah for the bank holiday weekend, eh?

Date: 2010-04-29 07:58 pm (UTC)He bought me a beautiful antique red coral heart encased in silver to wear on our wedding day, when I went looking for some earrings to go with it I was treated with utter disdain and outrage in one independant jewellers when I asked if they had any. I was told they didn't stock coral for ethical and environmental reasons in a very disgusted tone - honestly you'd have thought I'd just asked for her first born's head on a plate. When I got home and told Mr Pops he said I should have said 'oh but what am I going to wear with my fur coat now then?'

Date: 2010-04-29 08:15 pm (UTC)The lady you saw wasn't at all like the very heavily pregnant lady I saw at a Fall gig in Manchester a few years back - swigging from an open bottle of wine whilst puffing away on benson and hedges.
My brothers are also blessed with evil-ness - my youngest said of a blind psychic whose posters advertised her as possessing second sight 'second sight? she hasn't even got first' and the older of the two once had a run in with a recruitment consultant who 'in a teaching grandmother to suck eggs' incident told him to dress smartly for an interview. To which my brother replied he was thinking of wearing a dress at which point the consultant had a near fainting fit and a homphobic rant. My brother told everyone his name and contact details and got the ones who worked on night shifts to call him every half hour through the night. They did this for a month.

Date: 2010-04-29 08:17 pm (UTC)I find that I am becoming less tolerant of other people with age (noisy bloody schoolkids on public transport!), but at the same time I'm developing more of a 'live and let live' attitude to people who aren't directly affecting me. A strange dichotomy.

Date: 2010-04-29 08:23 pm (UTC)I know what you mean about the dichotomy. I think overall I have become less tolerant (e.g. of the noisy grunter that sits next to me at work) and yet it gets on my wick when other people are intolerant about things that I consider petty. Nobody can win!

Date: 2010-04-29 08:37 pm (UTC)It won't be as good as the original - no Michael Ironside! (see icon) Although I have noticed a slight homage in that some of the female Visitors do have their jackets unzipped far too low. That was how you could (unofficially) tell a female Visitor's status in the original - the lower the jacket zip, the higher the status... (I suppose if youre wearing a fake human skin you can give yourself as much cleavage as you like...)
