Vague rambles
Apr. 21st, 2010 06:22 pmGood afternoon fiends. Sorry I have not been very commenty of late. I've been too pathetic to engage in social activity, even on the interwebs. But, Lord alive, you would not want to be my fiend anyway because I am a big ball of grumperama.
I haz reasons...
Among other things, G and I have acquired yet more evidence that our flat hates us. I cite the following:
Grrski.
In more pleasing news, I am still slightly obsessed with simulating ye olde worlde photographs via Hipstamatic. Inspired by Jane Austen's "write what you know" rule, I'm pretty much snapping whatever falls before my eyeballs and have begun to take surreptitious snaps of people on the tube during my otherwise dull commute.
It's very naughty, I'm sure...

I've also taken quite a few sneaky snaps of people's shoes. It's amazing how many people wear really boring shoes... I've never noticed before.
In square eyed news... I watched an enjoyable old movie the other day called 'It Happened One Night' starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. The script is pretty funny, and Mr Gable is suitably suave and fabulous, though it's laughably un-PC, featuring a grown whoman who 'escapes' from her father and has to be tracked by the police! I also have The Hurt Locker on DVD awaiting my attention. I hope it is as good as the reviews.
Well I suppose I should shuffle off home (in my shoes of relative fabulousness) and do something else...
(Oh but before I go -
nalsa has mentioned that next Thursday is Pinhole Camera Day. I'm tempted to pop to the Science Museum for a child's pinhole camera kit so that I can join in the fun. Does anyone else fancy giving it a go?)
I haz reasons...
Among other things, G and I have acquired yet more evidence that our flat hates us. I cite the following:
- The self-aware hardware got G out of bed in the middle of the night by playing A-hA at top volume.
- The taps on the kitchen sink broke on Monday... as did the ones on the bathroom sink. (WTF kind of weird coincidence is this?)
- Our replacement taps have a nozzle that carries on for five seconds after you turn it off (in the style of a man draining the last drops when he goes to the loo)
- The plumber charged us £250 for his time, with a side bonus of making our sink leak into the downstairs flat overnight.
- The internet has stopped working. (Nooooooooo!)

Taking photos of what you see is a good thing, and tells you what makes a decent candid snapshot. Shoes are great - you could produce a little exhibition.

Date: 2010-04-22 07:53 am (UTC)The iPhone is scarily good at sneaky candid shots... It makes me feel like a private eye. There's no way I'd get away with it holding a bulky SLR :-)
