Diary of a slattern
Apr. 11th, 2010 11:46 amHappy Sunday fiends. Today I have to return the big ginger puffball to her rightful owner. Boo! I want to keep her, even though she has shed ginger fluff, catnip and soot everywhere and mewed me awake for several nights last week.
She's just so cute...

Last night she was so desperate to go outside that I relented and allowed her to roll around in the front garden for a bit. Unfortunately she followed this act of kindness by slipping past my legs and running off down a winding, pitch black alley and refusing to come back when called... cue me with a torch, looking like the clichéd opening scene from 1001 horror films.
This morning has started inauspiciously with me tipping a full glass of leftover wine all over Nancy Mitford, a Times Crossword book, an invoice from the vet, two Xbox games and various pairs of knitting needles. Nancy came off worst and is now all pink and frilly around the edges. I fear it's not what she would have wanted. I've had to make myself feel better by spending half an hour ogling other people's wool on the internet. Ahhhh, the pretty, 'tis soothing.
Yesterday, after being surprised out of bed all deshabillé with my flat in a shocking state, I had an unexpectedly pleasant and spring-like day involving river walks, beer and nice lunch. Today, conversely, I am going to hide away and play with guns. Yes I am... and nobody better distract me.

Date: 2010-04-11 01:09 pm (UTC)I'm not playing with guns today (and nor have I ever apart from my hen do and then they were real) but I am going to attempt Nigella's version of boiled ham with coke. Mr Pops is especially looking forward to this.

Date: 2010-04-12 09:26 am (UTC)Mr Pops used the leftover coke and onion cooking liquid to make a kind of sweet gravy that was yummy too - if a bit sweet and salty at the same time. I think I need to drink a lot of water today.
