Dear fiends, as you probably know I don't typically wallow in excesses of feminist outrage... but some days it is quite simply thrust upon me.
You have probably heard that Kathryn Bigelow has just won the Best Director oscar for her film The Hurt Locker, which also won Best Film.
So this morning a TV News reporter asked one of her leading actors what she was like to work with...
He replied "Oh Kathryn was great! She didn't apologise for being a woman at all. She just came on set every day and did her job"
(I'm sorry... She didn't WHAT?)
Moments later a male film critic was interviewed on the sofas about what made it such a great film...
"well, it's exciting, gripping, intelligent. You can't tell it was made by a woman"
I kid you not...
In other news, G and I spent the weekend decorating our kitchen... we had no time for the Internetz or anything and eventually flopped out on Sunday night... with the nagging realisation that the colour isn't quite right. Tsk.
Hope you are all surviving the Monday morning yukness.
