Inertia creeps
Feb. 13th, 2010 05:21 pmToday has so far involved lazing in bed with Steig Larsson, a breakfast of yumtastic eggy bread and a leisurely bimble to Twickers to buy sea bream and other bits for dinner. Afterwards G and I had a spot of late lunch in an organic, veggie cafe in a bookshop. (It occurred to me that, from the outside looking in, we might be mistaken for a right pair of twee wankers).
On the way back, I commented to G that all of the men in St Margarets look like drawings from Posy Simmonds novels (examples here if you are unfamiliar with what I mean... http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2794/4353302479_4ec0c9a41d_o.jpg) In a moment of rare, sweet innocence, G said "do I look like one?" and I had to guffaw, before assuring him that the overgrown emo look doesn't really feature in Posy Simmonds' stereotypical depictions of middle class englishmen. (Bless.)
This morning I discovered that I am already a member of Google Buzz... and furthermore was automatically following several people. So I faffed around with my profile without having any real idea of what I was doing. I linked a couple of blogs and my flickr account and forgot about it. Then when I got back from Twickers several hours later I was alarmed to see that it had auto shared several things on my behalf while I was out... eek.
Last night I watched Dean Spanley... it's quite a sweet story and has a leading character played by Sam Neil (for whom I have a long-standing soft spot). However it does feel a bit like an episode of 'Tales of the Unexpected' that has been stretched out to film length. EDIT: I should also point out that Peter O'Toole has some great lines in it... and that the upper half of Jeremy Northam's face looks like G (they'd be hard to tell apart if they both wore bandito-style scarves across their faces)
So... I think I might spend the next couple of hours loafing with my head in my book. If only every day could be as leisurely as this.
I hope you are all having lovely restful weekends... or failing that, rip-roaring rides of jolly excitement.
(PS... I'm contemplating getting a DVD set of Sapphire and Steel. This is extremely out of character for me... am I likely to regret it?)
