Theoretically, this is the best moment of the week... the very starting block of the weekend, where the fun is yet to happen. But for some reason I feel flat and morose. 'Tis inexplicable. But I think an evening at home eating Thai curry and watching some Glee and Charlie Brooker might sort me out.
Last night I had a lovely civilised chin-wag with
sara_lou over a couple of glasses of wine... and then the conversation went downmarket when Sara departed and my friend Patrick turned up and forced me to drink another bottle ...and some brandy. Bad Patrick, bad!
This morning I was not fit for purpose. But then again, hangover days are very useful for ploughing through the mundane work that I've been putting off due to dullness. (I got loads of spreadsheety things done today.)
Headphones have become compulsory issue this week, not just for me, but for all within twenty feet of the slobbering man-brute that sits next to me. (Oh, for two days of peace - the joy!)
On other matters, this week was the first time I've seen the ladies loos go into full "dramaz" mode over nothing. I very rarely venture into that community, but LJ has been so painfully quiet of late that I've had a couple of sneaky peeks.
Occasionally I make the mistake of popping in when completely sozzled and read something like: "is it immoral to recycle my handwoven, ethically-sourced tampon after only 300 uses?" and it makes my fingers twitch to go postal via the art form of comment... (but fortunately I'm not really a meanie cat... and some of the laydeez in there are a bit scary).
At the moment I'm enjoying my daily tube commute due to being totally in the thrall of Steig Larsson's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I suspect I will end up reading the three books back-to-back.

Date: 2010-02-12 08:23 pm (UTC)Oh yes, if you have the chance do so! I bought the first one about a year before the second was released here so I didn't have the option. Damn fine reads!

Date: 2010-02-13 10:17 am (UTC)It is amazing how sitting near an annoying colleague - or not - can affect your quality of life. Is there nobody who could sit him down and teach him some manners?

Date: 2010-02-13 11:27 am (UTC)As for the colleague... I fear the noises are just built into his physiognomy. He can't even breathe quietly. (I suppose someone could take him aside and ask him politely to stop breathing...)
