I love Dolly!

The Times has just done an interview with her - entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/music/article6997267.ece

... which provides me with an excuse to share a few more of my fav Dolly quotes.

"I'm not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I'm not dumb... and I also know that I'm not blonde."

"I believe in my cosmetics line. There are plenty of charities for the homeless. Isn't it time someone helped the homely?"

"I look just like the girl next door... if you happen to live next door to an amusement park."

I once saw a TV interview with her where she spoke about being a little girl in a deeply religious family. One day she saw a lady walk past and said to her mum "isn't she the prettiest thing you ever saw?" and her mum said "Lord no, she's just trash!" and Dolly replied, dreamily "That's what I'm gonna be when I grow up... trash."

Dolly rules. Leaving aside the camp icon side of it, her reading programmes are fab, she uses Dollywood to stimulate the local economy and keep traditional crafts alive, now spends her time making traditional music she loves rather than "country pop", and is a poster girl for the American dream. OK the thrusting of her tits at the public probably stops her from being a feminist icon, but even when the was objectifying herself she made it clear that she may look the part but was a woman in control, cross at your peril.

Goldie Hawn did the self-objectifying, but played up to the dumb stereotype for far too many years, and it was only in her 50s she allowed herself to show her real, steely self.

And on top of all that she has such a great sense of humour.

I heart Dolly very much indeed.

Do you think Bubba's on his way out tonight? I think and hope it's going to be Sisco who is given his marching orders though - he's just too squeaky and bouncy about for my liking.

I fear it might be the end for Bubba, but I will be v. sad if so. It won't be the same without him mentioning Jesus at every opportunity and arguing with the head on the door... Cisqo is nowhere near entertaining enough to sustain my interest.

The other day Billy-bob was wandering around shouting at Big Brother, saying "the harder you make it in here, thne more you persecute me, the more I feel like jesus" and G just looked up from what he was doing and said "Oh FFS, someone hammer some nails into him"...

I always end up tailing off before the end of CBB because the pubilc are always stupid enough to vote out the horrors that make it entertaining.

G sounds like a top man :-)

Bubba to me looks like the Joker as his mouth goes up at the sides in the same way but without being painted.
