Random Monday night blither
Jan. 18th, 2010 06:52 pmGood evening fiends. I hope your Mondays have been relatively untraumatic.
I worked from home today so that I could take Jess for another session at the vet. The poor lil fluffbag has developed some kind of digestion issue and has suffered two enemas so far this week. Her heart murmer has got worse and she's shrunk to half the weight she used to be... they took a blood sample for 'geriatric screening' to see if she has any of the ailments of old age (kidney failure, hyperthyroid etc).
It seems there's not a lot I can do about her digestion other than feed her wet food and try to sneak some bran or fish oil into it. This week I'm also concentrating on sneaking antibiotics into her cat milk.
The waiting room at the vet surgery was a total blubathon... while I Was in there, two little girls came out of the consultation room howling because their dog was being put to sleep. It was soooo utterly, horribly sad I could barely keep a hold on myself. G managed to hold himself together, but I think a man on the other side of the room was having a bit of trouble.
Ok, I shall stop talking about sad things now. Sorry about that.
As an antidote I might as well provide a wee top-up on the Sleb slurry...
I'm sure you've heard by now that Heidi and the scrap paper were evicted. Have to say I was mighty glad to see the back of Katya. Her grating, giggly voice was becoming as intolerable to me as nails on a blackboard. But 'twas tragic to say farewell to Heidi, our foul-mouthed lady of the haunted lake. Who will provide us with comedy profanity now?
Her eviction outfit was hilariously slovenly. She pretty much stuck two fingers up at the notion of glamming up for Davina by turning up in a holey tracksuit that would not have looked out of place on Waynetta Slob.
Incidentally, I was pathetic enough to google pics of Heidi before the lip surgery and thought I might as well share a quick 'before and after'...

As for the rest of them, I have to confess, dear fiends, that I am undergoing a bit of a quandary...
First of all, against all of my expectations, I'm finding myself rooting slightly for Lady Soverystupid. Now don't get me wrong... she has not miraculously turned into Lady soveryeloquent or anything nice like that. But it does seem to me that she is the only one with the balls to rebel against the self-appointed authority figures of the house. And as a result I can't help but cheer her on - the lone renegade, refusing to be Borged. (God how geeky have I become...)
The rest of them never stop slagging her off, the main complaint being that "she is not a team player"... and well, I keep thinking to myself, what's so wrong with that? I'm not a team player either and suspect I would be nominated pretty quickly if I ended up in the BB house. The whole communal thing, with everyone having to eat the same thing at the same time on the same days would totally do my head in. Vince got mad at her for *days* because she ate some corned beef when the rest of them were having chicken. And then Steph and the boyband nonentity joined into the melee when she wanted her alloted egg for breakfast instead of dinner... (Yes, you might well gasp at such a crime.)
Of course none of this stops her from being really immature and annoying... but still.
Furthermore, I am starting to feel a bit iffy about Duchess Steph, whose repressed bitchiness has decided to come out and shine like a prom queen, Given that Vince has set himself up as House Boss, Steph is acting like a sort of Iago figure... the power behind the throne, wielding her wooden spoon with relish and feeding Vince with bitchy little comments about the others - especially the younger women ;-)
Not that I would discourage such stirring or bitchiness amongst the slebbers - good god no, the more the merrier. But I'm just not sure if I respect old Stephers quite as much as I did before. I had thought she was above such silliness. Ivana has yet to offend me, but continues to amuse by referring to Jonas as "Johann" (at least now Vince doesn't need to take it personally).
The Billy-bob insanity continues, with poor, dim Alex endlessly targeted for bible lessons. Bubba seems determined to keep making Alex answer crazy fictional ultimatums about killing children or dealing with gunmen... and as far as I can tell he still believes the P3G to be Satan's little helper.
So - the new round of nominations came out last night, and Sov is up again. This time opposite the P3G. I really have no clue who will go... but Sov seems to believe she is invincible after surviving the last one and struts around insufferably shouting "it's my peoples - they love me" and other such bollocks)
In other square eyed news, I watched the first two episodes of Glee and quite liked it, so I might get into that for a bit. I also still have part 2 of Triffids to watch but not sure if I can be bothered.
Last night G made me watch the third Star Wars film (the one where Jabba plays a lead role). It was entertaining enough but a bit meh compared to the second one.
On book news, I finally finished the audiobook of Child 44. I quite enjoyed it, as tales of murder afoot in coldest, grimmest Stalinist Russia go. The relentless grimness was counteracted somewhat by the fact that I was making pom poms while listening. It's hard to see a grim world when you are making pom poms.
So... Mondays may be fundamentally evil, but they do at least offer the televisual delight of Paxo being cross on Uni C. Not to mention the geekfest that is Only Connect (even if half of you have to watch it on mute just to blank out the tones of VC) :-)
You KNOW you want to!

Date: 2010-01-19 10:16 am (UTC)I'm shocked she is 24 tbh, I thought she was about 18. or maybe that's just me hoping I didn't behave like that when I was 24, I know I did a bit at 18 but I hope I'd grown up a bit by 24.
I love Bubba telling the representation of the horned one on the door that he's going to be beaten, makes me laugh every time. Dane's reason for nominating him made me laugh this morning.

Date: 2010-01-19 08:46 am (UTC)Sneaking fish oil into a cat's food shouldn't be that difficult, one would think - and the fishier the better! Unless, if it's being given for medical reasons, it instantly becomes 'medicine', in which case it is 'poison' to be avoided at all costs ...
