You know you're getting old when...
Dec. 21st, 2009 01:16 pmIn any case I was in a rush to get a parcel into the last post before Xmas. And on that topic, can someone please tell me if there is a magical time of day when you can go to the post office and NOT find it full to bursting with slow-moving pensioners? I mean, honestly, do they all live there or something?
While I was standing in the queue, the man with the mail van turned up to collect the last post, which left me hopping on the spot with frustration as several old gents in front of me counted out the postage for 300 christmas cards in the form of 2p coins.... (arrrgh!) The tension was unbearable... but finally I got served and managed to leg it outside and shove my parcel into the van at the last minute before he drove off. (Eat THAT, pensioners!)
I'm off work this week and supposed to be "doing things" like the last dregs of christmas shopping and preparing for people visiting... but I really can't be bothered. I might just go and make myself a sandwich filled with sweet tomatoes and slices of bavarian processed smoked cheese... (oh guiltiest of guilty pleasures - I love thee!)
But while I am still here blithering inanely at you, I thought I would show you a beautiful children's pop-up book I bought yesterday. I'm not sure why I bought it. Helena is way, way too young for it... so I think I'll just have to admit that I bought it for me. I've always loved children's books. And how could I not? Just look at the pretty!
