...via the art form of knitting.

I has a Raspberry Beret!

I am so totally in love with it. It is purest ooh la la.  The saddest fact is that I can't wait for it to get cold so I can wear it...
(I blogged about it properly on my knitting blog, here: http://www.susiefhandmade.blogspot.com)

I've also just finished a pair of cashmere fingerless gloves inspired by Dr Horrible's singalong blog.... (but they're awaiting buttons before I can post pics). All I will say for now is that knitting with cashmere on rosewood needles goes a long way to making tube journeys a dreamy phenomenen.

So what have you lot been up to recently? It's very very quiet in LJ land...

Given the pleasing weekends we've had recently, I've been out a -bimbling in my local area and taken lots of photos with my new camera... There are many little discoveries to be had in Twickenham, such as the houses that Walter de la Mare and Tennyson lived in, the ice house in Marble Hill Park, lots and lots of lovely trees, the secret nooks and crannies in the grounds of York House, the miniature-forest-a-like beside Orleans House, Eel Pie Island and a little formal garden beside the Thames containing the most bizarre, over-the-top fountain extravaganza I've seen this side of suburbia.   Hard to credit, but I've come over all fangirl about my neighborhood!   Let me know if you fancy coming over for a little tour of the highlights...

I was tempted to follow Steer's precedent and post 300 pics on my LJ... but I decided to spare you :-p
The set is on flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/susanflockhart/sets/72157621840406139/

One thing I have noticed while fiddling with my camera settings is that gratuitous use of monochrome adds instant gravitas to the most ordinary of shots.  I've posted a couple of examples below... (the second one makes the driveway to York House look al Manderley)

That beret is gorgeous. A fabulous colour which will look wonderful on you, so delicate and well made.

I have my eye out for a green knitted baker boy cap with a peak. Lots of nice ones in Accessorise but nothing quite right yet.

Thank you! And good luck finding the cap.... if you have no joy, perhaps I could make you one... (I did see a pattern for a baker boy cap recently)

Nice photos, that area of Twickenham is lovely, much better than visiting the Rugby Ground!

Yes it's like there are two separate Twickeenhams... the rubbishy shopping bit and rugby ground and the lovely twee rivery bit full of grand houses and cobbles and things of interest. (I choose to ignore the rubbishy bits ;-))

My Mum loves Raspberry Beret as she says it makes her think of me when she hears it - because of the line about secondhand stores.

Yours looks beautiful.

Thank you :-) Nice song to be associated with... (I'd like to have something about the clouds in my midst, but not sure I can pull it off too well.)
