What I have been up to... (crafty bits)
Aug. 16th, 2009 06:27 pmHello fiendlets,
What are you all up to on this fine Sunday evening?
I am on cat feeding duty for a friend this week so will be popping over there shortly armed with curry and Angel DVDs... oh yes, dear friends, I do live the high life. But who am I to argue with people who have cute cats, really big TVs and huge squashy sofas?
Over the last couple of weeks I've been posting a few bits to my craft blog so I thought I would pop in here and give you the edited highlights... (well, mainly just a few pics, if you're interested.)
First of all, I have just finished making this little confection... (due to become a christmas present, and don't worry - I am already slapping myself for bringing up the C word!) It's made from the softest, most divine yarn known to man, and that is no lie...

Full details and a few more pics blogged here... http://susiefhandmade.blogspot.com/2009/08/angora-lace-pretty.html
I've also beeing having a bit of fun experimenting with yarn dying... using, of all things, a radioactive American soft drink powder called "Kool Aid". I can only assume that some knutter discovered this by accident, but it seems to work very well and the colour is permanent and wash-proof.

More details on the process and results are blogged here... http://susiefhandmade.blogspot.com/2009/08/kool-aids-so-bright-i-gotta-wear-shades.html and here... http://susiefhandmade.blogspot.com/2009/08/kool-and-gang-part-2.html
Anyway here's the really new thing... it is Sunday evening and I don't have a feeling of all encompassing dread at going back to work tomorrow. Yayness! I have gained a little distance from The Mong Collective and things are already on the up...

Date: 2009-08-16 06:42 pm (UTC)The kool aid colours are really groovy, escailly the orange and the pale teal. But given what it does to wool, I wouldn't recommend using kool aid for its original purpose.
