My booky wooks
Aug. 5th, 2009 07:28 pmWill you ever forgive this blog title?
Today has been nothing but a series of mishaps and accidents. I really might have been better off staying in bed... however I will refrain from ranting, because I have had a truly lovely week and am feeling quite unperturbable.
In fact I am just popping in to show off the lovely cache of books I have been given for my birthday...

From left to right...
Oh... and before I forget, I must mention that Monday night's dinner at The Petersham in Richmond was DIVINE in every way. Beautiful views, lovely aperitifs, several courses of heavenly food, plentiful splish and even dessert wine. Sadly I had no room whatsoever for the complimentary truffles at the end. It was a truly happy making experence, I would recommend it. They also do a reasonably priced afternoon tea so if any of you fancy going there sometime let me know... (Few pics on Flickr, here... http://www.flickr.com/photos/susanflockhart/sets/72157621955138998/ )
Also be warned... my big birthday present from G was a new camera. A proper one with a thousand settings! I love it, despite being daunted by it. Anyway it went on its first outing yesterday so I shall be back later to bore you with images. Ohhhh yes, there will be no escape!

From left to right...
- Red Star Over Russia (from G - a wonderful, weighty, image-laden coffee table book full of Russkie fabulousness)
- Cables Untangled (from my brother... a lovely book all about knitting cables!)
- Chocolates and Confections (another weighty tome from G full of scarily professional recipes for chocolates and confectionery)
- The Gate Vegetarian Cookbook (from
kissmeforlonger - cordon vert cuisine. My mouth is watering just from the pictures!) - Making Artisan chocolates (from my brother - another lovely recipe book for truffles and similar fripperies)
- Bag Style (from my brother - full of patterns for knitted bags)
- Backwards in HIgh Heels (from my friend Jane - a guide to being female)
- Under the Paw (from my sister... anecdotal meanderings by a self-confessed 'cat man')
- Cautionary Tales for Grown Ups (from
steer , a set of amusing adult verse in the style of Hilaire Belloc) - Book of Literary Crosswords (absent because it lives beside the bed... oh yes, my lifestyle is rock and ROLL!)
