My work has just announced the shock news that there is a "feasibilty study" underway to decide whether to relocate the people in my building from the main campus in South Kensington to some ex-BBC premises in Wood Lane.
 
Er....   can somebody please tell them no?  Good grief, I don't want to go to skanky old White City every day...   it's a soulless wasteland devoid of all things attractive and interesting.  I belong in Kensington, darlings, land of museums, cafes, shops, big green parks and direct trains to where I live.

No. This misses the point. The places which don't sell anything are those very places which one wishes to work and live away from the vulgar call of merhantilism.

I fully understand the point! But if nothing else, at least you can assuage the pain and soullessness by buying Stuff. That is surely better than experiencing the soullessness but being unable to buy any Stuff in order to assuage the pain.

I like westminster - it's got the pretty bits but also has vulgar mercantalism nearby if I need it.
