Apr. 5th, 2009 12:10 amWhat a nice afternoon. I went to see
sushidog for the first time in eons. It was supposed to be for cake and string but we gabbed so much and ate such nice cake we forgot all about the string...
The cakes were yumtastic. Savoury feta and courgette cup cakes... moist, tangy and delicious (I brought 4 home to reheat for breakfast). Then lemon cupcakes, elegant, fluffy and lovely (I brought 4 home to have for pudding!) All washed down with big hearty malbec, mmmm.
So we gabbed about all manner of nonsense, but mainly food and books. H has a way of describing favourite books with such enthusiasm and verve that it makes me want to go and read them all right this second! (Was delighted to find someone else who likes GK Chesterton... I might have a mini-fad on him next.)
I caught the London Overground all the way back tro Richmond and was comforted to notice a policewoman on my carriage. Admittedly she was quite young and half asleep, but still... (it wasn't until much later that she moved seats and I realised she was actually a knackered waitress on her way home from a shift in a remarkably policewoman-like uniform.)
Still, it was a friendly carriage. I chatted to two nice Kiwi boys on the train home while finishing Elijah #2's head (...in case you were wondering,
ms_siobhan ).
Right. Home now. Time for more cheese...

Date: 2009-04-05 01:10 pm (UTC)I've tried reading some GK Chesterton but didn't really get on with it but I did really enjoy the adaptations that were on BBC7 a while back. I love talking books with people too - combined with cake it's a perfect way to spend the day.
