Wow... what a blissful duvet day yesterday. A random day off work + microbe at nursery = a proper Xbox love-in.

When it got to 5 o'clock I started wondering how many 'yummy mummy' points I would lose if I were to pick up James in my pyjamas. (Goddamned social convention, getting in the way of me looting bandit corpses and sharpening my daggers.)

Anyway, thanks to all of the helpful comments yesterday from my fellow 'Rimmers, I got to grips with my big old racist Nordgal and levelled her up to 9 and had lots of swordy fun. Hooray!

If only they didn't feel the need to introduce quite so much reality... only one full day in and Meanie of Twick is already in need of storage solutions and trying to earn enough gold to buy a house to put all of the books and armour and shit in... Jeez.

As for my sneak + archery skills, I think these would go on my annual review as a 'development need'. I can't work out why I can sneak about and sometimes if I shoot someone in the head they die quietly and I get a bangy on-screen congratulation about my stealth kill levels, and other times I do exactly the same thing and the person goes "What was that? Did I hear something?" and then they run towards me and 'discover' me.... meanwhile I am shouting "HEAR SOMETHING??? You've got a frigging arrow sticking out of your face!")

Anyway - given my general shortage of play opportunities, I reckon this utterly huge game is going to last me about 3 years, for my 5 earth pounds. Bargainacious!

Am I right to guess that it was made by the same people who made Fallout 3? (I can't be bothered to JFGI but it feels like v similar gameplay). Also, Rimmers, as far as time-travel goes, is there any benefit of sleeping over waiting?  Oh, and last Q - did anyone else notice that the incidental music occasionally sounds like the Emmerdale theme tune? (Mood-killer-tastic!)

You are right that Bethesda did Fallout 3 as well :)

No benefit to sleeping over waiting, I don't think.

Ooh, another archery-related Q...

Do you happen to know if you can get a bow with a scope, at any point, for max stealth?

Yes and no; there's no bow with a scope but if you level up your archery there is a perk that allows you to zoom in, which is great. After that you can zoom in and slow time at the same time, which is awesome.

Much love to Bethesda...

Not quite so bad as the previous one but sometimes the system for levelling by practicing skills is bloody ridiculous.

In Oblivion you got better at jumping by jumping and you got batter at casting fireballs by casting fireballs. Logical. But it meant that when I was cynical I travelled everywhere by jumping while casting fireballs. (Jumping was also slightly faster than walking.)

"Who's that guy?"

"Nobody knows, few get close enough and live to tell the tale, but don't get in front of him or cross his path."

Hee. I discovered the same thing, and have been getting better at sneaking by walking about in a crouched position for no good reason.

In Oblivion I leveled my sneak by going into someone's bedroom, sneaking into the corner, and putting an elastic band around the controller to hold it in the right position so I didn't need to!

*laugh* So your character just sneaked about someone's bedroom all night. Did the person eventually go to sleep and ignore you creeping about their room?

Knowing the way these things work I bet you can creep about casting fireball spells and practice both at once.

Somebody told me you can drive in a straight line for an hour in GTA5 and still not get to the end of the city. I just can't fathom how massive game worlds are today.

Yikes! (I fear I'm a bit of an old fashioned gal in that I find it comforting when I hit the edge of where I can go and discover the game boundaries.)
