susie_floI think I am going to revise today's plan...
G is out on an all-day muso piss-up in Camden with his man-fiends. My plan was somewhat more productive, but has been revised as follows:
a) Tidy up DIY chaos (check!)
b) Get guest bed ready for drunken man-fiend (check!)
c)Continue to plough through STUFF that needs doing (scrapped)
d) NEW: Order Chinese food for one (mmm)
e) NEW: Spend rest of day incommunicado, assassinating renaissance Italians (yay!)
On an unrelated matter - what on earth is wrong with Ikea and their ludicrous delivery service? I just about managed to swallow the fact that the delivery charge for a single wardrobe door costs HALF AS MUCH as the door. But this morning they phoned me up to confirm that I can reserve 3 consecutive parking spaces for their lorry... to which I replied "Er, no, of course I can't. I live in a residents' permit zone, Why can't your lorry just pause outside the house for 30 seconds like everyone else does? And why do you need a lorry the size of a double decker bus to deliver a single wardrobe door?" All of this appears to be so perturbing to them that it has resulted in a "special arrangement" to deliver in a smaller van 8 days later. (Good grief!)
Even more unrelatedly, I will leave you with something that could have been a Youtube classic, if only for foresight and a camera... it was actually G who witnessed this, much to my chagrin, and it made hm laugh for about 10 solid minutes afterwards:
Picture our shiny wooden hallway which ends with a set of stairs leading down to the front door. About halfway down the hallway was a small kitty-scratching mat (about 1 foot in length). Now picture Truffle running down the hallway at high speed... hitting the scratching mat and surfing the rest of the way down the hallway before continuing straight down the stairs, ears back, as if on a magic carpet ride. (I am filing this with the equally un-filmed scene of Harriet jumping blithely into the bath when it happened to be half-full of water and jumping straight back out again, zebedee-style, a split-second later)
