Happy Friday, fiends. I hope you be well. Unfortunately I be thoroughly gruesome, with a stinking horrible cold.
Yesterday I had to get dressed against my will so that I could drag Ruprecht out for a check-up at the doctor's... luckily the doc was brisk and harried enough not to notice that 60% of my clothing was on inside out. The good news for Rup is that he appears to have the right sort of heartbeat and is now possibly upside-down. The bad news for me is that I'm not allowed any Lemsip or Night Nurse or other such medicated goodness to knock me out. Hence I shall be spending the day draped on the sofa, groaning and trying to get some sleep.
G has been away on a work trip since last Friday but I've not had time to get lonely thanks to lots of visits from kind lady-fiends. Last weekend
tvted and I had a go at making soy wax candles scented with essential oils, using glass containers that I'd found in a charity shop. The pic below shows them in progress, waiting to set...
The finished candles smell heavenly but I haven't tried burning them yet. I do hope they burn nicely.
Then on Monday my old uni fiend, Alice, came to see me - followed by
sara_lou on Wed. The kitties love it when Sara stays because she is a proper madcatlady who lets them sleep on her bed - and she was their surrogate mummy while I was in Venice. I have to say I love it too, especially when I get treated to exceptionally nice Cordon Vert food.
This morning the fluffbags have brought in their very first kill from outside. This is an unfortunate lump of moss that has been hunted down and is now being tortured ceremonially in the hallway. Other than that, Truffle is showing early signs of becoming a champion fly-hunter. Here's hoping...

I seem to have become a fully-fledged member of the insomnia club. (I've noticed that there are so many of us ladies on LJ with this affliction, perhaps we should be having secret online parties during those long, wakeful hours.)
On the plus side - how utterly beautiful it is out there! April is the prettiest month of the year in St Margarets as all of the blossom trees suddenly come into bloom at once, shedding pink and white confetti over the pavements and cars. Combined with this week's Spring sunshine, it's just gorgeous and managed to lift my spirits considerably on the woozy trudge to the doc's yesterday.

For those of you not on FB, here is a gratuitous pic of my babies, aged 7 months, 3 weeks, snoozing the day away when they should have been out playing in the sun.

I've heard this. I've also heard that some meds are safe - not the good ones, but there might be something that can help. A situation where MumsNet may actually be useful (rather than just a collection of birth stories intended to scare the pants off you)
