Eeeeeh!  I've finally caught up with The Killing and can barely fall asleep at night for pondering whodunnit.  Four more episodes to go... I don't know if I can bear the tension.  I need to plan some coping strategies for when it's all over...  (perhaps I should knit Ruprecht a mini Sarah Lund sweater to help fill the empty, Lundless hours).

Other than that, I'm itching to resurrect my chemistry set and make some fresh batches of soap before I run out of time for such whimsy.  A few of you old-timers may remember when I used to do this obsessively, with all manner of herbs and essential oils that made the house smell gorgeous for weeks.  And there's something infinitely pleasing about the sight of lovely racks of artisan soap bars curing.  But, as with many of my creative obsessions, I lapsed.  I think my last big batch was probably about 5 years ago, so I suppose it must be high time to make some more...  and maybe even some candles, while I am at it.  I just need to find a way of kitten-proofing my work space!  (Unfortunately I may not get a chance for any of this for several weeks and am trying to shake off the fear that 3rd trimester tiredness/lethargy is going to kick in before I'm able to get all of these crazy, creative urges out of my system.)

For now I shall have to content myself with eating another slice of the latest of Jane's *gorgeous* cakes.  (This time a delightfully moist apple and cinnamon concoction that I can't stay away from)

Slightly off topic - icon love :-)

Ooooh the soap sounds lovely - go on make some, even if it's just one bar. Richard bought some gin and tonic flavoured bubble bath the other day, don't know what it smells like in the water but in the bottle it really does smell of gin.

Juniper essential oil smells like gin, though I expect the bubble bath is probably using a custom-made fragrance oil. (The problem with soaps that smell delicious is resisting the urge to lick them...)

If I do make some soap I will send you a bar!

He did say he was worried when in a drunken state he might confuse the bubble bath with his actual gin and tonic.

Oooh that would be lovely - thank you.

I haven't forgotten my pledge to make you something - I'm just waiting for an especially juicy Jeremy Kyle episode to put it together to.

Having the same thoughts on The Killing! Maybe we need a LJ coping community? ;-)

Do you think that latest twist is a red herring? With four episodes to go, it seems like that...

On Twitter, Charlie Brooker was saying that there's a Dutch crime show called Spiral also worth checking out for any Killing fans.

LJ coping community sounds like a plan! I am half-hoping the latest is a red herring... I don't really want the answer to be the taxi driver or Vagn (though some people have been certain that it was Vagn, since episode 1!)

I think Spiral is French, but I may be wrong, as I haven't seen it. Apparently it is up to season 3, which will replace the slot left by The Killing. (Am wondering whether the seasons are stand-alone enough to give it a go without having seen 1 and 2...)

I remember your soap-making - you were very good at it.

I also remember you and I making aromatherapy face packs! It's funny because all of that pre-dates my blogging years, hence I have no old photos or records to refer to. Am resorting to my old soap spreadsheet as a reminder of my recipes and scent blends.

(Being an anal spreadsheet freak does eventually offer some rewards...)

Ooh make some candles. I like making candles. And I hardly ever use soap.

Remember I said I made six muffin sized cakes with the same mixture? I just microwaved one for my friend Mary, straight from frozen(the cake, not her) and served it with a dollop of Greek yoghurt mixed with a splash of whiskey and some orange sugar. She had a sort of prolonged cakegasm and ate another one ten minutes later. She's taken the rest away with her. I shall have to make some more.

It would be good if you had some in the freezer for Ruprecht-feeding emergencies.

I have shed loads of vintage china cups if you need candle containers (like the lovely one on your mantlepiece).

Ooh, that sounds like a plan.
If you bring cups, Jane and I can fill them with scented wax for you :-)

I can't use Iplayer cos my wifi is buggered, so I downloaded all of The Killing and just finished it on sunday night. I was on the edge of my seat, every time you think you know who it is they throw in new info that puts someone else in the frame. I basically suspected everyone, except the delicious Sarah Lund lol. Such a fantastic series, can't wait for season 2!

Ooh, you KNOW whodunnit!

I have to say, given that the series has been and gone in Denmark, I'm v. impressed by the lack of spoilers circling around the internet (or at least no obvious ones that I have seen).

I do! Although to be honest I was on tenterhooks for the last 3 eps not having a clue who it could be. Its fantastic that so few spoilers have come out, I would have had a fit if I'd watched 20hrs of the thing only to have it ruined! Do you find that the Danish men mostly have dreadful hair? Or is that just me?

If you do knit a mini Lund sweater you must post pics!

That's good to hear about the killer being still unclear until the end (Eeeeh!) I will freak big time if someone spoils it for me before the end. (I think the only safe option will be to watch the last two eps live on TV, rather than recording to watch later.)

The worst man-hair, by a landslide, is Sarah's ex husband. His barber should be struck off! And Vagn's is not much better... so yes, I think you have a point there.
