Bleurgh.  Does anyone have recipes for delicious, comforting cold-remedy drinkies that you're allowed while preggers?  'Tis Friday night and my tired sluggishness has evolved into a cold, just in time for the weekend.

But, in the name of win, I am going to get up from my desk now and go for lovely Thai food with G.

Tomorrow I'm going to have to drag my pathetic self out shopping for a new laptop...  (my beloved Willow died on Wednesday night).  She wasn't that old and I'm having trouble getting excited about a new one.  Also it is anathema to have to go to real life shops - but there is something about seeing the laptop in the flesh, and getting a feel for the keyboard and so on.   With any luck I will see an extreme piece of shiny and be won over...  here's hoping.

Well I'd better run.  I hope you all have lovely weekends planned.

My dad makes toddies with lemon juice, honey, sugar, fresh grated ginger, hot water, and a bit of whisky. Even if you leave the whisky out, I reckon it would still be very comforting and good for colds, and if you want the whisky in there, you only need a tiny bit, and some of the alcohol will evaporate off anyway.
Also, hot ribena with three or four cloves in it is great for sore throats; the cloves are mildly anaesthetic, so it's very soothing.

Great, thanks. I think I'll try both of those at the weekend

Hot ribena = comfort in a mug or even hot vimto :-)

My Mum used to give us lemon juice and honey and sugar mixed in hot water as well, but we never had anything as exotic as fresh ginger in our house when I was little.

Sent you some patterns the other day - hope postie hasn't lost or stolen them.

Culpepers sell ginger cordial which you can make up with hot water.

Def hot lemon is the way to go...and honey is very restoritive (is that a word?)

Man a new laptop? Is that one only about 2 years old? I am sure I remember when you got it.

Not interested in an iPad?

Yeah she was only 2 years old, but the screen has completely died and I thnk it will cost too much to get repaired. (G reckons she's been knocked on the floor too many times by the naughty torties.)

One of my friends posted some horrible soup recipe a couple of years ago. It mainly consisted of garlic. Like dozen cloves or summat. She claimed it cured a cold overnight!
