Death in Venice!
Jan. 20th, 2011 01:28 pmDear fiends, I could not be more misty eyed with glee...
After a lengthy dither about where to go on hol this March, I came to the conclusion that I'd like to go somewhere familiar and reliably lovely (rather than new and exciting). However I was still pondering the unpredictability of the weather and the risk of lengthy (tee-total) days spent wandering in the rain.
Until last night, when Sara_Lou made the genius suggestion that we should scrap the idea of hotels and rent an apartment in Venice. Somewhere glorious, overlooking a canal where we can loaf around at length and watch the world go by, and wander at our leisure and cook lovely food from market stalls. Now I am almost dead from lust at the links she has sent me... I think this is going to be one last splurge before we hit babyville. [Insert excited noises here!]
In other news, please switch the sirens on because the kittens escaped this morning! Sara noticed they were missing, and so we had a bit of a search through the flat until it became very clear that they were Not There.
I strongly suspect that they have been plotting this in shifts, Great Escape style, because the two of them had somehow dug through all of the blockades and masking tape and wedged deckchairs that we'd placed in front of the cat flap and got out into the back yard. They looked SO dinky outside! I thought they were getting quite big until I saw them in the context of something bigger than our flat. Thankfully our yard is surrounded by high fences and, from the innocent looks on their kitten faces, I don't think either of them had been introduced to the ways of adulthood by the downstairs Tom, but now we really must get them spayed in case they get out again. If those two get up the duff I will be blacklisted as a bad'un by every cat charity from here to Lands End.
Anyway I had to run off and leave G in charge of reinforcing the blockades, but I suspect a new, reinforced cat flap might be on order very soon.
But back to the point - "SQUEEEE" (Venice).

Date: 2011-01-20 02:40 pm (UTC)Venice - how exciting, are you going to swan about looking wan and lusting after inappropriate boys in a Dirk Bogarde stylee?

Date: 2011-01-20 02:51 pm (UTC)As for Venice, I fear I am more likely to be hefting myself about in slow motion while lusting after carbs ;-)
