Ladies, tell me - why oh why do you all fancy Brian Cox and David Mitchell?



Proper fanciable scientists are beautifully un-self-conscious beings in clueless knitwear with holes in the elbows.  They're not supposed to look like fey, smiley boy band members.  Even on the radio I can still "hear the smile"...   (shudder).   Come on, ladies, it's not like he's the only clever man in the world.
 
Proper fanciable, funny geeks are understated and quietly witty beings who save their voices for when they have something killer to say.  They don't go about overexposing themselves relentlessly on talking heads panel shows long after they have run out of material.  (Is Stephen Fry about to retire or something?)

Oh, for a man who wears tweed unironically....

Yes, but you're talking about being attractive and sexy - Brian Cox is good looking as well which is more unusual. Luckily for the human race it's not just conventionally attractive men and women who are lusted after, loved and laid (in whatever order suits you).

You are right - that is definitely part of steer's charm, less the knitwear.

Maybe DM is extremely needy and it's made him attention seeking? I find him attractive as well - mostly because he seems like fun to be with.

The problem for me is that lack of self consciousness is a huge part of the sexual attraction. (That blissful, distracted unawareness that he looks as though he was dragged through a hedge backwards)

As soon as they start to be overly aware of their hair/clothes or excessively needy for applause, the magical nerd-charm disappears.

I wear the odd bit of tweed because it's a practical, hard-wearing fabric. Same reason I have a barbour thronproof jacket. The fact that these things drift in and out of fashion makes no difference to me.

He is on Great Unanswered Questions, which is on BBC Northern Ireland, dunno if it's on other BBC. He's and evolutionary geneticist and a very cute geek. Nice soft Nordie accent, mmmmmm.
