The deed is done
Jan. 21st, 2011 01:21 pmEeeeeeeh! Around midnight last night G and I booked an apartment in Venice. In the end we went for this one for 7 nights.
Please do not, under any circumstances, attempt to show me a better apartment that we could have had. I might have to killl you. (In the 5 hours preceding this booking, I think we may have looked at every single apartment in Venice. We ended up like mouse-clicking automatons, muttering "Too Expensive/Not Available/Too Outskirty/A bit Meh/No Kitchen Facilities/Terrifyingly bling/No Canal Views/HIgh risk of seeing Elton John...")
For me, the only non-negotiable was decent light with at least one window looking onto a canal, which instantly rules out BILLIONS of places. G's was that it must have a proper kitchen (as opposed to a kitchenette 3 feet away from the bed). I think what we've ended up with will be perfect, even if it does have a scarily chromatic bathroom and two sprog-beds that we don't need...
We're going on 5th March, which will overlap with the carnival by 2 or 3 days. Have any of you been at Carnival time? If so, please send tips. What bits are worth doing/seeing?
Today I'm trying very hard to focus on work but I keep being distracted by the relentless frisson of excitement. Roll on March...
Best of all, lovely
sara_lou and
rosamicula are going to provide live-in kitten love while we are away, which means I can relax in the knowledge that tortitude will reign supreme in my absence.
Ok, that's it. I will stop now. It's out of my system. I promise there will be no more annoying posts about my holiday plans for at least a week.
